Behind the Scenes: My Journey into Virtual Organizing
Recently, my husband had hernia surgery, and to my surprise, it was done robotically. The surgeon wasn’t even at the operating table, but off to the side of the room, guiding the procedure through advanced technology.
I was shocked at first, but then it made sense: the precision of robot-assisted surgery can lead to better outcomes and faster recovery times. It’s truly incredible how far technology has come. These days, almost anything can be done remotely, even surgery!
Of course, this got me thinking about the world of professional organizing. The Professional Organizing industry started 1984 in Los Angeles – right in my backyard! By extension, virtual organizing has grown in popularity over time, of course with a big jump in popularity during the pandemic. These days, virtual organizing remains a great option for certain clients, and it’s something I’ve been offering for a decade.
My Background with Virtual Organizing
When I started S.T.O.R.E. by Steph over ten years ago, one of my first clients moved out of state. I suggested that we continue working together via phone, and she was on board. The process worked beautifully, and I was encouraged to continue.
Not long after, a client moved out of the country, and we did the same. Flash forwards a few years and the pandemic hit. I was ready. I offered all my active clients a special rate to try virtual organizing, and I was off and running. Clients found it a great way to connect during a trying time, and they were able to continue the momentum we had begun in person.
Virtual organizing has always been a part of my service offerings, but I am now officially broadening the scope of it by offering two tracks, depending on your needs.
The Kickstart: Space Planning, Product Recommendations & Design Consultation: This is a great introduction to the virtual process. The Kickstart is a planning and strategy session. We walk the space and develop a plan of action for you to carry out on your own time. This is great for self-starters who want to approach the project by chipping away at it bit-by-bit, on their own time.
Live Virtual Coaching: We develop the plan and carry it out together. I am there to guide you every step of the way. You are doing the physical work; I am providing coaching and accountability.
